Item Description

These specimens are some of the most easily recognizable, dramatic and highly sought after Silver specimens from the Western Hemisphere. This specimen is a great example of this well known material, and a really showy miniature to boot. The piece feature very sharp, well-formed, disticnt Spinel-law twinned crystals along with semi-arborescent and single octahedral crystals of Silver measusring up to 3.2 cm long associated with minor whitish Calcite. The various habits of Silver are part of what makes Batopilas such a great locality. They are immediately distinguished from all other Silver specimens around the world. This piece is very showy, eye-catching and fine quality. Priced at $3,000 in the inventory. A great piece for any collector of Mexican minerals or native elements. This specimen is from the world famous collection of F. John Barlow (catalogue #2615) and is actually pictured on page 223 in the book featuring his collection that was published in 1996. Unfortunately, no Barlow label appears to be with the specimen, but the piece is accompanied by labels from two other collections, including one from the Beaty Collection and another from the RB Collection.
