Item Description

In the modern age of mineral collecting, Pakistan has been the most productive country for high-quality Aquamarine specimens. Some of the finest Aquamarines, such as this choice cluster, come from the various pegmatites in the Paki Himalayas, especially Shigar Valley. The upper portions of the crystals in this cluster are completely gemmy, and the light blue color is uniform and attractive. The luster is glassy both on the prism faces and the flat, smooth terminations. A few accenting, white Feldspar crystals at the base of the piece add to the considerable aesthetics. This is a classic Pakistani specimen from the late 1980's (see the Tucson 1988 show poster for a similar example). It is nearly pristine, and complete all around, with a mass of 88 grams. Even better in person, this was originally valued at $3,800. ex Herb Obodda collection
