Item Description

AN IMPORTANT CANADIAN PIECE! The Rock Candy Mine's combinations of Fluorite, Quartz and Baryte are Canadian classics, as are some of the stand-alone Fluorites such as this large cabinet specimen. One of the fascinating aspects of this piece is that there appears to be four generations of Fluorite. The third generation is the green layer, and it grew differentially as it formed very large (up to 5.3 cm) octahedrons on most of the Fluorite below. The fourth generation is clear, and produced a remarkable layer of well-defined, stepped-growth Fluorite that covers everything! The fluorescence is very good, and following the character of the Fluorites themselves, subtly different from layer to layer. This large cab is impressive, and much better in person - the details don't come through as well in the photos. In person, you can clearly discern and appreciate the layers. Choice material! this comes with a labeled display base (in spanish) from the collection of Dr Miguel Romero, the most widely appreciated and known Mexican collector probably ever..valued $4000-5000 for locality, size, aesthetics.
