Item Description

Rare and unrepaired, these very fine, intertwining stalactites of Rhodochrosite are from the famous and important deposit at Capillitas! The ends have been polished so you can see the outstanding color, as well as the layering associated with the stalactitic growth. The reverse side has a very fine, preferential coating, and within that coating is an equally unknown fluorescent mineral. There are two exposed areas on one of the stalactites, and they actually serve as windows to the surface of the Rhodo below. This is arguably the only known worldwide locality for stalactitic Rhodochrosite of this quality, and this almost 'organic' cluster is highly aesthetic. It should be from the famous 1993 "stalactite pocket" but I cannot prove it. A rare specimen, with unique aesthetics valued $2500-3500. Mass is 377 grams or nearly a pound in weight.
