Item Description

Here we have a lovely miniature display specimen featuring a 1.2 cm, sharp, well-formed, tapered, silvery-gray colored pseudo-orthorhombic (monoclinic) crystal of Arsenopyrite aesthetically perched atop a matrix of very gemmy prismatic Quartz crystals with a coating of beige colored Muscovite "rosese". The Arsenopyrite is complete on the top and the sides, though I can see a small contact near the base of the crystal. Very attractive in person, and certainly one of the better miniatures of this material that we've offered. Valued at $500. Ex Dr. Steven Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007. You can read Steve's bio on the Mineralogical Record website ( https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=671&page=1 ) or on Wikipedia.
