Item Description

An extremely fine and pristine flattened floater Azurite rosette or "ball" from this well-known extinct locale. The HIGHLY lustrous, tightly intergrown crystals have rich royal-blue color and compare very favorably with classics from Bisbee or Chessy. A minor bit of mint green Malachite can be seen, giving the piece a wonderful two-tone appearanc.e These are world-class Azurite rosettes and this is superb example. Ex Dr. Steven Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
