Item Description

A classic and now hard to find display specimen from the famous Yaogangxian Mine featuring a "burst" of highly lustrous, metallic, prismatic, "cogwheel"-shaped silvery Bournonite crystals measuring up to 1.0 cm long sitting beautifully on the termination of a sharp, lustrous, translucent Quartz group which is dotted by "discs" of white Calcite. The piece is in excellent condition and displays beautifully. I can't see any notable damage with the naked eye, and the piece honestly looks BETTER in person, as it was not terribly easy to photograph. Ex Dr. Steven Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
