Item Description

An attractive cabinet Fluorite specimen hosting sharp, gem/gemmy, attractive green, cubic crystals slightly modified by dodecahedra measuring up to 1.6 cm on edge. An association of compressed, white / colorless scalenohedral Calcite crystals measuring up to 3.7 cm across makes for a classic combo from this well-known Fluorite specimen producer. The faces of the Fluorite crystals have excellent luster and many of them are virtually WATER CLEAR. This one was difficult to photograph as well, but take my word for it, it's better in person, and the photos don't tell the entire story. We have this one valued at $2,000 for the size and completeness of the crystals. Ex Dr. Steven Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007. You can read Steve's bio on the Mineralogical Record website ( https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=671&page=1 ) or on Wikipedia.
