Item Description

A gorgeous Fluorite specimen from the famous Ruyuan Mine featuring WATER CLEAR, very lustrous, incredibly sharp, and well-formed soft green cubic crystals with wonderful dodecahedral modifications on the edges measuring up to 1.7 cm which are intergrown with sharp, lustrous, slightly milky prismatic crystals of Quartz on minor matrix. The luster and superb transparency of the Fluorites really stand out in my mind. BETTER IN PERSON - HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH! The piece is essentially undamaged, with the exception of the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. Valued at $1,800. Ex Dr. Steven Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
