Item Description

A beautiful classic association specimen of Benitoite with Neptunite from famous Gem Mine in California. This mine is the type locality for Benitoite, which is the state gem of California. The incredible rarity and beauty of these crystals makes them some of the most sought after specimens from any US locality. This piece hosts a predominant, sharp, gemmy(!), trigonal crystal of Benitoite measuring 1.4 cm across which is associated with several prismatic dark reddish-black colored crystals of Neptunite along with a gorgeous little "tri-terminated" crystal of Benitoite flaring off the side. The main Benitoite is undamaged, and glows with that classic beautiful blue color when backlit. One rarely sees a thumbnail like this featuring such a good quality Benitoite with associated Neptunite on the market now. Since the mine is closed, this material has quickly started disappearing from the market, and is incredibly high-in-demand. Valued at $1,400.
