Item Description

When it comes to US Chalcocites, the famous specimens from the Flambeau Mine are among the finest quality, most eye-catching and highly sought after examples out there. The beautiful crystallization combined with the iconic iridescent multicolor "peacock" patina really sets them aparat from almost any other specimens I've seen. These are more contemporary pieces as opposed to their historic counterparts from Bristol, Connecticut, but they are still fine quality and now commanding high values on the market. This thumbnail sized specimen hosts a group of sharp, well-formed, thick, semi-stacked, pseudo-hexagonal (monoclinic) blades of Chalcocite free of matrix. No real damage that I can see on the display side, but it is contacted on the base where it was removed from the pocket wall. A great chance to pick up a good quality, full-sized thumbnail of this now hard to find material from Wisconsin. From the worldwide thumbnail / miniature collection of Irv Brown. Valued at $750.
