Item Description

It is rare to find well-developed crystals of Colusite from the famous mines at Butte, especially at the East Colusa Mine which is the type locality dating to 1933. This excellent specimen features sharp and well-formed silvery bronze colored modified octahedrons / dodecahedrons of Colusite to a few mm scattered among Quartz matrix. Colusite is a rare copper, vanadium, arsenic, tin, antimony, sulfosalt and specimens like this are few and far between on the market. We have photographed the specimen with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality and enhance the detail. This is the only piece of this species that we have to offer right now, and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371 Also included is a label from the Richard Hass collection. Do not miss out on this one if you collect rare minerals or hard to find material!
