Item Description

A lovely and colorful miniature specimen from the Turquoise District featuring vivid sea-green Spangolite with acicular "sprays" of bright blue Cyanotrichite, rich blue bladed Azurite and soft green spherical Malachite. Really cool to view under the microscope and we have photographed the specimen with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality and enhance the detail. It's not easy to find specimens of this rare and sought after hydrated copper aluminum sulfate in many localities in Arizona outside of Bisbee. The small label with this piece says it was collected in December of 1982. The species was named in 1890 after the well known mineral collector from Pennyslvania, Norman Spang.
