Item Description

The Braen's Quarry in New Jersey has been a seldom collected quarry for years, but has been a source of excellent Zeolite specimens and associated species. This piece features no Zeolites, but does hosts lovely "water green" color crystals of Datolite measuring up to 1.0 cm. The crystals have notably sharp and rather lustrous faces, along with very good gemminess. The reverse side of the specimenh shows a "fan"-shaped "cast" of Quartz after Anhdyrite, which is not terribly common in my experience with Datolite from Braen's. A wonderful example of this classic Trap Rock material. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
