Item Description

While this area is best known for its superb Aquamarine crystals, this piece is a fine quality specimen of crystallized Feldspar in the form of notably pink colored blocky Microcline crystals which are dotted by off-white colored, slightly bladed crystals of Albite and a few gemmy Smoky Quartz crystals. The Microcline is actually half of a Manebach twin, with the right side showing a euhedral, sharp, very well-formed crystal. You can clearly see the symmetry plane where the twin formed, but unfortunately the other side did not make it. WIth that said it's still a very attractive and seldom seen specimen of this wonderful material from this remote region in southern central Idaho. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
