Item Description

An attractive combo specimen from the lesser known Noche Buena Mine in Zacatecas, Mexico featuring sharp, very lustrous, tetrahedral, jet-black colored Sphalerites measuring up to 6 mm associated with gemmy, white / colorless, "dogtooth"-shaped crystals of Calcite measuring up to 1.1 cm long. Additional crystals of rich golden Chalcopyrite and a bit of sparkling Quartz make for a nice touch. The piece is in great shape overall, and really looks like up close. Please note, the label that came with this specimen erroneously refers to the Sphalerite and "Bournonite" for whatever reason. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
