Item Description

This unusually fine and eye-catching Tennantite specimen is really sculptural and three dimensional. The tetrahedrons of metallic, gun-metal, silver-gray Tennantite are beautifully intergrown to create a showy overall display specimen. The crystals have a light dusting (or possibly alteration) of muted green green Malachite to create a lovely overall appearance. The largest Tennantite crystal measures 1.7 cm across. Most of the crystals are undamaged and the piece displays wonderfully as you can see in the photos. Minor pearly Dolomite rhombs make for a nice touch. This is a very example of a fairly rare ore mineral at Tsumeb. Older material from this renowned locale. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
