Amethyst with red Calcite (ex Michael Garced Collection)

A gorgeous two-tone cabinet display specimen from the Tonglushan Mine featuring a group of sharp, stout, well-formed, lustrous, beautiful purple colored crystals of Amethyst measuring up to 4.9 cm long which are partially covered (on the underside of the specimen) by very sharp, "dogtooth"-habit scalenohedral crystals of Calcite measuring up to 1.1 cm which are included with iron oxide to create a fantastic red hue. There are a few Calcites on the back of the piece which are not included and show their original white hue. The piece is in superb condition overall and I really can see any major damage anywhere, just a few nicks to some of the Calcites. The piece is nearly a complete "floater" as it's crystallized nearly all the way around, I can only see one small point of attachment. From the worldwide mineral collection of Michael Garced.
