Item Description

One of the classic contemporary Cuprites from the Rubtsovskoe Mine in Russia. These specimens were plentiful a few years ago, and now have seemed to quickly dried up on the market. These are some of the best crystallized Cuprites extant with their superior form, sharpness and luster. Like many pieces from this find, this specimen is a complete "floater" with textbook octahedral form along with very well-formed faces and an almost metallic like luster. It may appear black on the surface, but when backlit, the piece actually shows some deep blood red internal flashes. To top it off, the piece actually has a small amount of associated native Copper and Silver, and in my experience, the combination of all three species from this locality is rare. From the worldwide mineral collection of Michael Garced. Valued at $800.
