Item Description

These manganese-bearing Vesuvianites are are truly some of the most eye-catching crystals you'll see because this color is almsot unmatched in the mineral world. The intensity of the color (even in small crystals) is remarkable, and when it comes to various hues of mineral species, purple is certainly rare. If you eliminate Amethyst, there are not many purple species out there. Here we have a wonderful toenail sized specimen featuring dozens of very sharp, lustrous, prismatic Manganoan Vesuvianites measuring up to 6 mm forming an almost "jackstraw"-like cluster with that electric purple hue. The piece is crystallized all the way around, and it's actually re-crystallized (healed / "re-healed") on the base. This material is no longer being found as the mine is completely finished and these specimens are very hard to find on the market now. From the worldwide mineral collection of Michael Garced.
