Item Description

A wonderful specimen consisting of bladed, pearly, gemmy, lustrous, silvery colored Barite crystals measuring up to 2.1 cm coating golden yellow cubic Fluorite on matrix. The piece is in good shape overall, with only a few broken Barites. It's hard to differentiate between individual crystals in the photos as the piece was difficult to photograph, and honestly it looks better in person. A worthwhile and attractive Barite specimen from this well known Fluorite producing district. For the size, amount of crystals and unique overall appearance of the piece, it's worth picking up for any collector. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #1778). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
