Item Description

A fine quality and RARELY seen small cabinet display specimen of Cerussite with Barite on Quartz from the famous Les Farges Mine in France. This locality is best known for its world-class Pyromorphite specimens, and pieces like this are certainly hard to find. A 1.1 cm crystal of slightly yellow colored, sharp, lustrous, gemmy Cerussite sits on the side of a mound of well-formed, slightly smoky, sharp Quartz crystals which are coated by translucent, prismatic, sharp, lustrous golden crystals of Barite. Very good quality with only a little bit of roughness here and there. If you collect European classics, or rare display quality specimens of pieces from well-known localities, don't miss out on this one. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #365). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
