Item Description

This specimen came labeled as coming from Santa Eulalia, but it was probably obtained at a time when locality information wasn't terribly reliable, as it's clearly a specimen from Los Lamentos. It has the unmistakable thick, blocky pseudo-cubic form with the almost "waxy" exterior luster and rich golden-orange hue. The largest crystal measures 1.7 cm, and while the piece is not pristine, it's still in good condition for the material. These are some of the most iconic Wulfenites in the world based upon their attractive form and color. A lovely miniature specimen of this now hard to find material from Mexico. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #312). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
