Item Description

A beautiful and sculptural display specimen of Arsenopyrite from Naica. Typically the Arsenopyrite specimens from this area are not very desirable as they can be kind of "lumpy", but this one has great aesthetic form. Sharp, lustrous, well-formed, blocky orthorhombic crystals with a lead-grey color measuring up to 1.2 cm associated with prismatic white Quartz crystals, and a "sugary" group of Quartz that appears to have a formed a pseudomorph or "cast" after another mineral. No real major that I can see with the naked eye. The piece dates from the 1970s, and comes with a custom lucite display base. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #4091).
