Item Description

A beautiful "butterfly" twinned Calcite from the famous Santa Eulalia District in Mexico. This piece is not only well-formed and elegant, but it's fairly thick to boot. When backlit, the piece actually shows that it has yellow scalenohedral "phantoms" inside, creating a lovely two-tone effect against the silvery-white exterior. The piece is in wonderful condition on the display side, though it has a separation mark on the back where another Calcite crystal once grew. These are not common, and this particular piece would make a great addition to a Calcite collection, a suite of Mexican minerals or a collection of twinned crystals. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #2236).
