Item Description

A gorgeous textbook single jet-black crystal of prismatic Ilvaite from the famous Laxey Mine in Idaho. These specimen are few and far between on the market, and certainly worth picking up if you collect minerals from the United States. Even though Laxey specimens are distinctive and beautiful, the biggest problem with a lot of them is that they are somewhat "jumbled" and intergrown so they don't show distinct individual crystals. This piece is a wonderful example of the material with great form and smooth, lustrous faces. No damage that I can see with the naked eye, and the minor amount of Quartz and attached matrix makes for a great touch. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #2345).
