Item Description

A really attractive, showy and FINE quality specimen featuring COMPLETE (unbroken) velvety, blue-green Wavellite botryoids from the famous Mt. Mauldin quarries of Arkansas. The largest "ball" measures a whopping 3.1 cm across! The most significant aspect of the piece not the size, but the fact that there are so many undamaged complete "balls" on a single specimen. Many people consider the broken spheres or partial radial sprays to be satisfactory specimens of Wavellite, but when you see a piece like this, you can really appreciate fine quality Wavellite. Now this piece does have a few broken spheres revealing the darker inner "core", but rarely does one find a piece of this size with such impressively large spheres, not to mention so many of them are complete an undamaged. Classic material, and certainly some of the most beloved Wavellite in the world for color. This is a big specimen, so PLEASE NOTE that the piece along with the accompanying lucite base from Miguel's collection weigh a combined 4.05 pounds (1.85 kilos), so there WILL BE AN EXTRA SHIPPING CHARGE for the winner, please keep this in mind when bidding. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #4686).
