Item Description

Years ago there were many of these superb quality sulfides from Peru on the market, and they seem to have disappeared recently. This piece features fine quality, lustrous, sharp, well-formed, metallic golden Chalcopyrite crystals measuring up to 1.6 cm on edge. The Chalcopyrites have a semi-stepped appearance, and are associated with sharp, well-formed, black Sphalerite (some of which show Spinel-law twinning) sitting on GEM quality, colorless "needle"Quartz to create this classic combo from this storied locality. This is a fine quality display specimen, and these pieces are becoming more and more difficult to obtain these days. I can't see any damage of note on the display side, and the crystals are better in terms of quality than many Chalcopyrites I've seen from this mine. From the worldwide collection of Tom Campbell.
