Item Description

A classic cubic Galena specimen featuring a predominant crystal with sharp faces and great form which is dotted by small sparkling golden Chalcopyrite crystals and beautiful GEMMY "Ruby Jack" Sphalerites on the reverse side. Not nearly as common on the market as they once were, and are easily some of the most well known US Galena specimens extant. The piece can be displayed from a few angles, and is in great shape overall. A wonderfully well-balanced display specimen with good quality crystals. The largest Galena measures 3.6 cm on edge. No damage that I can see on the display side, and only a tiny bit of superficial roughness on the back. Valued at $650. From the worldwide collection of Tom Campbell. Tom is a mineralogist and mineral collect who works with us here at The Arkenstone. He has over 35 years of experience in the fields of exploration geology, mining, and applied mineralogy, and has even more years under his belt as a collector! Tom has described many new species over the years, and discovered the rare phosphates Tiptopite, Fransoletite and Pahasapaite. Tom was also a co-author on the second edition of the Encylopedia of Minerals. You can see a list of Tom's published works here ( https://www.irocks.com/thomas-j-campbell-publications-list ). ADDITIONAL NOTE ADDED AT END - NOTE THERE IS PYRITE, IN ADDITION TO CHALCOPYRITE. RARE FOR THIS DISTRICT
