Hematite (ex Irv Brown Collection)

While Minnesota Hematites are not often seen on the market, I always take note when I see one, as they are very attractive in person. This piece is a fine quality example from the Soudan Mine, featuring very sharp and notably well-formed, silvery metallic crystals which are sitting on what appears to be oxidized / altered reddish-brown Hematite "rosettes". The Hematite has formed a semi-ridge like coating on the small bit of underlying matrix. Very attractive up close, and a more than worthwhile example for anybody who collects minerals of the midwest United States, Minnesota minerals or worldwide Hematites.
