Item Description

A VERY hard to find crystallized specimen of Hydroxylherderite from the Pack Rat Mine in San Diego County. Typically the San Diego County Herderites are blocky and have a subtle beige-grey hue, but the crystals on THIS specimen are notably thin and prismatic with a ligher golden-beige hue. They are sharp and well-formed, and even a little gemmy when backlit. The largest Herderite measures 1.5 cm long, and the vast majority of them are undamaged. A great piece for anybody who collects thumbnails, pegmatite minerals or specimens from San Diego County. Priced at $900. From the worldwide thumbnail / miniature collection of Irv Brown.
