Item Description

This locality is known for producing a handful of species, but a few of them are some of the most noteworthy mineral specimens from the United States. The Elmwood Mine is also well known for producing large and highly displayable examples of these specimens. This wonderful large cabinet specimen features a "snowball "-shaped crystallized group of translucent, ivory colored Barite sitting on crystallized, highly lustrous, "Ruby Jack Sphalerite matrix. The Barite "sphere" meassures 8.1 cm across. Honestly, there is no real damage to speak of on the display side, and the Sphalerites are even dotted with a few small golden Calcite crystals. With great aesthetics and quality overall, this one stands out as being more than a simple Barite from Elmwood. A highly desirable association specimen from this world-class locality. Valued at $1,800.
