Item Description

A very attractive large cabinet display specimen of Calcite from Mexico, (most likely Chihuahua). The crystals are nearly colorless, but some of them have a light reddish color from iron inclusions on one side. The crystals have good sharp, lustrous, striated faces and some of them have decent internal gemminess. The largest crystal measures 2.3 cm long. For the most part, the piece is in excellent condition and the vast majority of the crystals are undamaged. This is a BIG, HEFTY specimen weighing in at 3,492 grams, so there will be an additional shipping charge, so please keep this in mind when bidding. This attractive specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). A wonderfully historic and eye-catching piece of this classic material from at several decades decades ago.
