Item Description

A 3.3 cm, pristine, hematite plate is dramatically set upright on this outstanding matrix specimen from Cavradi. The brilliant metallic crystal has some embedded wine-red rutile crystals and is aesthetically set on flat-lying hematite iron roses. The sculptural form of the blade with a bit of attached matrix and artistic setting on the granitic matrix make for a superb and classic example from this famed locale. Ex Dr. Francesco Bedogne Collection # 194 and acquired at the Altdorf Bourse in 1972. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector. Read his biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=118. Fairly valued at $2500-4500 low to high. These are seldom available in such quality, unrepaired, and on matrix!
