Item Description

Alpine localities are well known for producing superb Epidote specimens, but there are a few "Alpine-type" localities in the high mountains of Pakistan that produce some great specimens in their own right. This specimen is a sharp, lustrous, well-formed, thick, prismatic, beautiful greenish / golden / root beer colored crystals of Epidote that exhibit good pleochroism with strong backlighting. You can clearly see the different colors when rotated in the light. Best of all, the piece is doubly-terminated, which is not commonly seen in this material. Excellent shape all around, with only minor imperfections. A great overall specimen of this contemporary classic material with minor rough edges. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Orginally valued at $850, and certainly worth well over $1,000 in today's market.
