Item Description

A fantastic, gemmy, rich cranberry pink and green color prismatic Tourmaline crystal group from an undisclosed locality in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The main crystal which measures 4.3 cm, is the highlight of the piece as it is notably compressed on one axis, making it "tabular" in habit, which is not common for Tourmaline. The crystals have excellent luster with defined striations and sharp faces. The "matrix" is mostly composed of additional pink and green Tourmaline crystals of mostly compressed habits. A beautiful three-dimensional display piece, considering that it's entirely composed of Tourmaline crystals, and it's rare to find aesthetic specimens like this with no matrix. The specimen is in wonderful condition, but there is a bit of edge wear as you can see from the photos. Valued at $1200. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
