Item Description

This is a classic specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites around Park County and Teller County, Colorado have produced what collectors and dealers know to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of color, quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen is a beautiful large miniature / small cabinet. It is a sharp, lustrous, very well-formed, blue-green color Amazonite crystal with a distinctive and highly sought after white "cap" (caused from a secondary generation of Feldspar). Keep in mind that the best of these specimens (especially with top color) sell for big money these days, and considering that fewer and fewer top quality specimens are found each year, this one would make a great addition to any collection. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic". This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with a typed label from Wulff on one of his famous 3x5 index cards that states the piece was self-collected.
