Item Description

Senarmontite is a rare Sb-oxide. It is EXTREMELY RARE from this famous Chinese mine, the world's largest antimony deposit and renowned for world-class stibnite specimens. MINDAT lists the species, but no photos are shown in the Photo Gallery for the locale. This is a RARE, dramatic, rich and sculptural large combination. The upper portion of two prism faces of the pseudomorph are festooned with sharp, resinous luster, translucent, brown octahedrons, to 7 mm, on the artistic large diverging spray of brown stibiconite after sharp large stibnite prisms. All three of the terminated pseudos are coated with tiny senarmontite octos, as a further accent. This dramatic large 360-degree combination is enhanced by the variable brown color saturation hues and well-striated and lustrous sides. The cleaved tip to the lower pseudo has negligilbe impact to the outstanding quality and RARITY of this remarkable large combination from the Dr. Franceso Bedogne Collection # 608. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector. Read his biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=118. Valued at $1750-2000, for combination rarity, richness, quality and size.
