Item Description

Typically, the Pyrites from King county are found in association with the beautiful Quartz crystals in the form of brilliant striated cubes and pyritohedra. A small discovery at the Purple Hope #4 Claim has yielded some attractive and highly unusual "etched" / skeletal crystals of Pyrite free of matrix. Now these crystals are completely natural and were found as loose singles / "floaters" in the pocket. This is the only locality that has produced these intriguing and one-of-a-kind specimens. It is unclear if these crysatls formed as the result of a solitary solution etching that only partially etched the crystals, or if another species such as Marcasite was present and dissolved away, leaving only the Pyrite behind. This specimen is a beautiful miniature example of this material with stunningly brilliant metallic golden faces on every side. Upon close inspection one can see defined crystals faces intermixed with the graceful etching patterns. This material is unlike any Pyrite I've seen from any other world locality, and to the best of my knowledge, it is the only locality in King County to produce these gorgeous Pyrites. If you collect thumbnails, sulfides, minerals of the United States or worldwide Pyrites, don't miss out on this lovely and interesting specimen found about 30 miles east of Seattle.
