Item Description

The famous San Jose Mine in Bolivia produced the world's finest Andorite crystals in 2004. Along with this momentous discovery was a find of some of the finest crystallized examples of the rare sulfosalt Zinkenite. This specimen is a great example of this hard to find species. It is one of the best specimens that we have offered from this well known discovery. It features hundreds of excellent quality, rare, prismatic, silvery-grey "needles" measuring up to 2.8 cm in a wonderful large crystallized "spray". A few small partial crystals of Andorite can be seen on the piece, but the Zinkenite is what matters here. There were only a handful of these specimens in this size and quality, and this one comes directly from Brian Kosnar's personal Bolivian collection. If you collect Bolivian minerals, sulfides / sulfosalts, or just superb crystallized examples of particular species, do NOT miss out on this one. PLEASE NOTE that this specimen is soft and delicate and must be handled carefully. This is a choice specimen and a great quality piece for what it is. It has been analyzed and confirmed as Zinkenite. Valued at $2,000 for size, aesthetics and quality.
