Item Description

An unusual 5 piece set of somewhat "sharks tooth"-shaped gemmy, pale golden color crystals of Aragonite from an unknown locality in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. I have never seen this material before, but I trust the label, and considering the size of the valley, it's certainly possible that a small area exists with crystallized Aragonite like this. These crystals comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The set comes with a hand-written label from Wulff that simply says "Shenandoah Valley, VA"
