Item Description

Friedelite is a relatively rare manganese iron silicate that is only found in a few localities world wide. There are hundreds of species that occur around the Franklin mining district, and Friedelite is among the most classic and well known. This piece hosts a crystalline mass of brownish-pink Friedelite. This piece came to us from an old East Coast collection with a classic old label from legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the piece has Ford's Wall Street address, the label dates between 1947-1956. Great old classic material from this amazingly prolific locality.
