Item Description

This locality is famous for producing some of the most iconic sulfide species from the western United States. It should be noted that although a lot of specimens show up on the market with Leonard Mine labels, many of them are actually from various other mines in Butte, but the Leonard Mine has become the "go to" name for specimens from Butte. Bornite combination specimens of this fine quality, richness and large size are uncommon from the Leonard Mine at Butte. This piece features semi-skeletal Bornite crystal clusters with matte luster and moderate iridescence measuring up to 1.3 cm. The Bornites are attractively scattered across the large plate with contrasting brassy Pyrite crystals and Quartz crystals. This is a very fine, large old combination from Butte, and very rare on the market today. Valued at $1,200.
