Item Description

And old Calcite specimen simply labeled as coming from "Monroe, Michigan" - possibly from Maybee or Newport (?) - but if anybody out there has info as to where this piece might be from, please feel free to contact us and let us know. Thep piece features sharp, well-formed, lustrous, gemmy, rich golden colored "stacked" or "stepped" scalenohedral crystals of Calcite free of matrix. The largest crystal is doubly-terminated and measures 7.2 cm long. VERY little damage, and just showy and eye-catching. An EARLY entry into the Kay Robertson Collection (catalogue #352) dating back at least to the 1950s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
