Item Description

Not your typical Apatite specimen from Afghanistan. Typically, we're used to seeing purple crystals from places like Dara-i-Pech, but this piece was simply labeled as coming from the Kunar Province, and truly doesn't resemble anything we've seen before. This piece hosts a group of sharp, well-formed, lustrous, prismatic, Fluorapatite crystals measuring 2.2 cm sittiong on white Feldpsar matrix. The Apatites show a bit of a bi-color appearance with a soft yellowish-green hue at each end and a pinkish-lilac hue in the middle. The piece has excellent aesthetics and presents beautifully as you can see from the photos. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9287). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
