Item Description

Here we have a great old-time specimen of the classic beautiful Mimetites from the ancient lead-producing Haus Baden Mine in the Black Forest. This specimen features gorgeous sparkling radial groups of Mimetite ranging from golden-yellow to rich orange colors measuring up to 5 mm on matrix. You can see a small associated gemmy Calcite crystal on the display side, and a bit of green and purple Fluorite on the underside of the specimen. If you collect secondary ore minerals or German classics, look no further than this beautiful small cabinet display specimen. This piece has excellent color and luster for the material, better than many pieces I've seen offered on the market recently. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4120). The piece is accompanied by an old hand-written label from Dr F. Krantz in Bonn. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
