Item Description

A CLASSIC example of one of the famous Proustites from Freiberg! Good crystallized examples of this material are certainly few and far between on the market, and this piece is a nice example of this highly desirable material. The piece hosts eye-cadtching Proustites crystals measuring up to 7 mm which are sitting on a bit of host rock matrix. Amazingly, the piece still glows with a brilliant red color with a bit backlighting. This piece is easily 100 years old and has a lovely antique patina all over. Some of the crystals have notably smooth faces and are incredibly well-formed, while others are somewhat skeletal in habit. The top of the main crystal has several small stepped "teeth"-like points, and while this is not damage, but there are some contacts that can be seen here and there. This is a rarely displayable old German "Ruby Silver" that could fit in any collection. Valued at $550. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10278), and the label states that it is from the Erich Lindemann Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
