Item Description

The Bunker Hill Mine is a famous lead-zinc-silver mine that produced some of the finest Pyromorphite specimens from the Western Hemisphere. The mine operated for a century (closing forever in 1988), and fine quality specimens are difficult to obtain, especially 30 years after it came out of the ground. This is a rarely seen Cerussite specimen featuring sharp, well-formed, very lustrous, off-white colored "snowflake"-shaped twinned / reticulated crystals on host rock matrix. Some of the crystals even show a bit of gemminess in areas. There is a bit of roughness here and there - some crystals are contacted - but the Cerussites are still very well-crystallized and incredibly lustrous. Classic material from Idaho, you don't see it around anymore. Valued at $950. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
