Item Description

Gorgeous, gemmy and lustrous, deep cherry-red rhodochrosite scalenohedrons are richly and attractively scattered on the wedge of sulfide matrix on this very showy specimen. The Uchucchacua mine has produced some of the finest quality rhodochrosite specimens around. The large, beautiful, doubly terminated crystal is 1.8 cm and has just a bit of gentle termination cleaveage. A bit of periphery wear is noted, but has minimal impact. A very nice larger sample of this well known material from Peru. Very little new material has come out in the last few years. Valued at $1200-1500.
