Cuprite octahedrons with Copper (old classic) Whitmore Coll

Sharp and lustrous, intergrown cuprite octahedrons richly cover the quartz matrix on this classic, old-time miniature from the famous mines in Cornwall. The cuprites reach 8 mm and all of the octos have areas of classic wine-red color. The scattered clusters of rust-red copper crystals are a super accent. Probably from famous Wheal Gorland, where primary production was over by 1851! Old material, but no proof. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection.
